Dr. Normand Labrie, Scientific Director of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture, visits the Hybridlab

After presenting the Hybridlab’s various projects, including two funded by FRQSC, Dr. Dorta demonstrated the collaborative work carried out in the interconnected HIS with researchers in Italy (Milan) and France (Metz). One of the Hybridlab’s first projects, Drafted virtual reality: A study on ideation through drawing in an immersive environment (FRQSC, Appui aux projets novateurs [support for innovative projects], 2006-2008), was carried out thanks to FRQSC. In 2009, Tomás Dorta and his team received significant funding from FRQSC to install three HIS systems in three different universities: the Université de Montréal, the Université Laval and UC Berkeley in California. The FRQSC funding supported the research conducted at the Hybridlab and helped the laboratory obtain even larger research grants from the federal government.
